Degummed Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (Degummed CNSL)

What is degummed CNSL?

Degumming is a treatment step used to reduce gums and selected impurities in CNSL. Product quality depends on the feedstock, treatment and separation process. Degummed CNSL is distinct from distilled cardanol, and the trade name alone does not establish a universal low-metals or fuel specification.

Quality parameters to agree before purchase

• Water content, with mass or volume basis clearly stated.
• Ash and insoluble matter.
• Density and kinematic viscosity, both with the measurement temperature.
• Potassium, phosphorus and other elements relevant to the intended application.
• Sulfur, acid value and flash point, with the test methods stated.

TDS, sample evaluation and shipment COA

A laboratory result relates to the sample tested. Historical reference reports and customer target limits should be reviewed on their own basis and should not be treated as a specification for a new shipment. Request the current offered-grade TDS and a representative sample, then agree the acceptance limits and methods. DP Biomaterials will confirm the available grade and lot-specific COA for the order.

Industrial use and packing

Degummed CNSL may be considered for further refining and selected industrial fuel or blending applications following customer evaluation. Burner compatibility, storage behaviour and transfer requirements should be reviewed before scale-up. Packing may include ISO tanks, IBCs, flexitanks or bulk shipment, depending on the product grade, viscosity, route and carrier acceptance. Loading quantity, export gateway and delivery schedule are confirmed in the quotation or contract. Follow the current SDS for storage, handling and transport.
